Recycle Bin

This functionality is available since version 5.3.

Deleted documents are not deleted from the database, but are moved to a menu item called "recycl bin". This item always exists and can't be modified via the menu item administration interface.

The recycle bin is located at the end of the menu item navigation next to the document list.

Document list, recycle bin at the end of the menu item navigation

When clicking on this item, you get the following interface:

Recycle bin

You can restore (move) a deleted document from the recycle bin by clicking on this icon:

You get the following interface:

Restore (moving)

The options are basically the same like the ones you know from moving normal documents, but there is no option to copy the deleted document, it can only be moved (see Copy or Move Documents).

Relations between documents are not reflected in the recycle bin. If you e.g. delete an overview with detail pages assigned, all documents will be displayed on the same hierarchy level in the recycle bin. This also means that you need to restore the documents one by one in such a case, restoring the overview does not restore the details. In addition, you won't be able to move detail documents from the recycle bin directly into a restored overview they had been belonging to before (even if the recycle bin does not show hierachical relations, they still exist, and you can't move a document to a place where it alreday exists). You first need to move the detail documents directly into any menu item, and in a second step can normally move them into the overview they had belonged to before.

There is also an option to finally delete the document from the recycle bin:

If you delete a document from the recycle bin, it is finally deleted from the database, there is no way to restore this document  (this document is no longer available via versioning either, in case you have been working with versioning).
