Content Elements (CE)

Content Elements (CE) are elements that represent a specific content or functionality, like e.g. an image, a text, a date, a form or a search function. Every structural template (see Structural Template) consists of at  least one CE. For each structural template, you can select and configure all CE required, andt his results in a specific program code to be used when creating HTML templates (see HTML Templates). This way, CE define the majority of functional options of documents based on the respective templates - however, some functionality is directly programmed on the level of HTML templates.

In general, CE have two dimensions:

  • They define which type of content or functionality is offered in a document, being based on a template where a CE is used.
  • They define which fields are shown to the editor when editing a document being based on a certain template and which options and rights the editor has.
